Attendance

ABSENCE NOTES/ABSENCE NOTIFICATION

If your child is absent from college – for whatever reason – parents need to contact college:

1) by telephone on the morning of the first day of absence, preferably before 9.00am (tel: 01977 722805/6/7/8). There is someone to take calls from 8.00am.

2) by letter if it is not possible to phone in. Please send via a brother, sister or friend to Student Services. (If a message is not received at college about the absence, the college will contact your home.)

On the morning of your child’s return to college he/she needs to bring a note signed by you, explaining the absence. The college is unable to sanction holidays in term time. Such absences will be considered unauthorised.

EXEATS

All appointments should be made out of college time. If it is necessary to leave college during the day your child needs to report to their Form Tutor or Learning Co-ordinator, with a note from parents, to be issued with an exeat form. If this is for a whole or half day your child should hand it to his/her Tutor who will enter the appropriate code in the register. If it is for any other time he/she must get it signed by the subject teacher of the lesson he/she is leaving and hand in the form to Student Services before leaving the college site. On your child’s return to college he/she must report back to Student Services.

REWARDS FOR ATTENDANCE

Students are rewarded for good half-termly levels of attendance and punctuality. 10 points are awarded to students with over 95% attendance, or 15 points for 100%. A further 5 points is given to students with no late marks.

INTER-FORM COMPETITION

There is also an Inter-Form Competition in each year group. The winners each half-term will receive a class reward such as non-uniform for the day or allowed to leave at the end of Period 5 one day.

100% ATTENDANCE

Students who achieve 100% attendance throughout the active academic year are rewarded through an attendance trip to Alton Towers, for example, in September.
